David Draper shares . . . I went to grade school and MD with Kevin, and he was a great guy.  Comments his brother Tim: ". . . I think of him all the time.  He was the smart one of the family, graduated from Cal "Go Bears", molecular Bio Chem, and dabbled playing the guitar - he wasn't half bad either. . .:

Kevin died of a brain tumor in October of 2005, he is survived by a large family that misses him very much!

Wow I am so shocked that Kevin has passed on. I also attended grade school with him at St. Catherines along with David Draper, Ann Jarvis, David Quam ( all fellow clasmates at MD). Kevin was smart, funny, and one of the nicest individuals ever. God bless his family and may he rest in peace. Love, Libby O'Connor

Kevin will surely be missed! He and a bunch of us started the MDHS men's volleyball team--he was an outstanding outside hitter. We joked around a lot about how our "coach" was usually pretty stoned by the time practice came around, so we sort of made it up as we went along . . .

Kevin was a great guy who always brought out the best in everyone. My best to all of his family and friends.

I only learned of Kevin's passing this evening by reading this web site and am very, very saddened. Kevin was a fun volleyball teammate who could just hit the ball a ton. He always had wry observations about people and events that would make us all laugh. Subjected as we were by a routinely "herbally enhanced" coach, Kevin would often suggest that we forget about drills and just play. And it worked.

While at Cal, I would occasionally run into Kevin at a party or between classes and we had excellent chats. He was an extremely wise person and I am happy to have known him. I remember his sheepish grins, always concealing his wicked humor.

Kevin was part of the Balboa Yacht Club busboy/waiter crew (along with me, Eddy, Sanders, Timpson, Doyle, Schmer, Prendergast, and his younger brother Brian.) A great guy and loads of fun, always a smile on his face. He could wrestle the "worm" with the best of them.

I am just learning of Kevin's death today, January 14, 2009 in NYC, as I register on the MD website. Kevin was kind to me. He had a wry sense of humor, and always gave me a break and a knowing wink for being a closeted gay boy, scared of his own shadow, while he, in contrast, was solid, confident and gentle. In high school, at the Balboa Yacht Club (where we were waiters) and at Cal, he effortlessly put me at my ease and helped me feel at home in a world that didn't seem to want me around. I will always be indebted to his youthful wisdom and generous kindness.
